Bernard McDonnell – Community Board member and Coordinator of Newham Cyclists, part of the London Cycling Campaign.
I cycle for pleasure, fitness, to save money and to not pollute the environment. I am also a keen walker and recently trekked for 10 days through the Kashmir Valley in India.
The Lea River Park, along with the 2012 Games, is one of the most exciting projects currently been developed in East London. The Park’s ‘Fatwalk’ will open up the Lea towpath to cyclists and walkers from Three Mills Green to East India Dock. For the first time in living memory cyclists and walkers will be able to follow the Lea towpath all the way through Hertfordshire, Essex, the Olympic Park at Stratford and down to the Thames at East India Dock.
I am delighted to be part of the Lea River Park Community Board.
